Dear Colleagues,

Currently there is no AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine available in Ottawa, however with the recent statements from Health Canada, the National Advisory Committee on Immunization (NACI) and the Council of Chief Medical Officers of Health, you may be getting questions from patients. We hope that the following resources may be useful to you. We have also included links for several patient fact sheets developed by the Ontario Ministry of Health on COVID-19 vaccination that may prove useful to your practice.

Health Canada Regulatory Statement on AstraZeneca

NACI rapid response: Recommended use of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine in younger adults

CCMOH Statement on the use of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine in younger adults

Patient Resources:

Ministry of Health Patient Fact Sheet “After Your COVID-19 Vaccine" (pdf) – a one pager document on what to expect in the days after vaccination, including rare side effects and other pertinent information.

Ministry of Health Patient Fact Sheet “COVID-19 Vaccine Information Sheet" (pdf) - vaccine information for patients receiving any COVID-19 vaccine.

Ministry of Health Patient Fact Sheet “What you need to know about your COVID-19 vaccine appointment" (pdf) - provides information for patients on how to prepare for an upcoming COVID-19 vaccination appointment and what to do after receiving the vaccine.
