Ottawa Public Health (OPH) is adjusting our influenza vaccine distribution plan based on revised amounts received from the Ministry of Health.

OPH has received some doses of quadrivalent influenza vaccine which we are preparing for distribution to you beginning next week. Based on the amount we have received, you will receive 30 percent of the amount you received last season, to begin vaccinating your high-risk patients.

OPH has also received a supply of high-dose trivalent vaccine for older adults, which we will also begin distributing next week. You will receive 60 percent of the amount you ordered last year.

We expect to receive more quadrivalent and high-dose trivalent vaccines by the end of October.  OPH will begin accepting orders for additional doses of influenza vaccines on or after November 1st. Our influenza vaccine order form will be posted on our website at the end of October.

New this year! OPH will have an influenza dashboard on our website. The dashboard will display the current flu order processing time, under the section where our vaccine order forms are located. This will be activated once we begin accepting flu vaccine orders on Nov. 1st.

  • The number of business days displayed will indicate the time from receipt of an order to the time it is packed in our fridges and ready to go out.
  • The dashboard will be updated weekly.

The provincial launch of the UIIP is expected in late October or early November. Once the program is launched everyone who lives, works or goes to school in Ontario is eligible to receive a publicly funded flu vaccine.

We will communicate with you leading up to the launch of the UIIP if we receive additional updates from the Ministry of Health.

For more information, please refer to the “Professionals and Health Care Professionals” section of our website.

We will update it as more details become available from the Ministry of Health.

Additional resources for health care providers can be found on the Ministry of Health website.

Please contact us at healthsante@ottawa.ca or 613-580-6744 if you have questions related to this year’s UIIP.
