Earlier this month, the Ministry of Health informed us that as a result of manufacturer/production issues there are delays in the delivery schedule of the high-dose trivalent influenza vaccine (HD-TIV) vaccine to the province. As a result, the amount of HD-TIV received to date by Ottawa Public Health (OPH) has been lower than previously anticipated.

Ottawa Public Health’s 2nd annual accredited Family Physician Update saw an excellent turnout and active participation at the Oct. 3rd evening event at the St. Elias Centre.
Attendance increased by some 27% with a good mix of health care practitioners, including 134 family physicians and 19 nurse practitioners and 6 allied health care providers. The new format this year allowed for a question and answer session after each presentation, which encouraged more fulsome discussions.

Again this year, quadrivalent inactivated influenza vaccine (QIV) will be publicly funded for adults, and children over the age of 6 months.
