Dear Colleagues,

This Public Health Alert is to provide you with updates on Ontario’s RSV prevention program.

Ontario’s Infant and High-Risk Children RSV Prevention Program is extending into April

Current epidemiological data (percent positivity and hospitalization) indicate that community transmission of RSV is still ongoing.

• RSV mAb (Beyfortus) should continue to be administered to eligible infants and high-risk children.
• The RSV vaccine Abrysvo remains available to eligible prenatal individuals who are delivering in April.
  • The decision to administer maternal vaccination should take into consideration the timing of administration during pregnancy (i.e. between 32-36 weeks gestation) and the upcoming timing for the end of the season.

Please monitor your product inventory closely and consider ordering small quantities, if additional products are needed.

The end of Ontario’s 2025/26 RSV Infant and High-Risk Children prevention program will be communicated by the Ministry and OPH. Guidance for the 2026/27 program will be provided leading up to the fall and will include recommendations for those infants and children who receive RSV protection late this season.

The 2025/26 Older Adult RSV Prevention Program will continue throughout the spring and summer

Please note that while eligibility has not changed and one dose provides multi-year protection, this program will be continued year-round. Booster doses are not recommended at this time.
