Primary Care Physicians and Nurse Practitioners are often the initial point of contact for parents concerned about their child’s speech & language development. Parents have unique insights into their child’s development, and guidance offered during routine primary care visits is associated with improved early communication and literacy outcomes.

Public Health Ontario (PHO) offers a variety of online Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) Online Learning modules and resources.

Ottawa Public Health (OPH) has started the annual process of assessing students’ immunization records for compliance with the Immunization of School Pupils Act (ISPA).

To attend school in Ontario, students need to be immunized against nine vaccine preventable diseases or have a medical or religious/philosophical exemption:

• diphtheria, measles, meningococcal diseases, mumps, pertussis, polio, rubella, tetanus, and varicella (required for children born in 2010 or after).

Earlier this month, Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health announced that Ontario’s measles outbreak had officially been declared over.

Cancer remains the leading cause of death in Ontario, with 1 in 4 Ontarians expected to die from cancer. While screening programs for breast, cervical, lung, and colorectal cancer are designed to catch disease early, many patients continue to face barriers that delay or prevent access, especially those from underserved backgrounds.
