STI Medication Ordering

Please note the STI Med Program may require up to 10 business days to fill orders. It is not intended for urgent treatment distribution. Consider ordering your medications in advance to help keep your clinic well-stocked and reduce delay to patient care.

If treatment is required immediately, your clinic may need to arrange a courier for order pick-up, please follow-up with the Sexual Health Clinic to confirm details at (613) 560-6099.

Welcome to the STI Med Program! 

Publicly-funded medications to treat Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) are available through Ottawa Public Health.  

Ottawa Public Health is pleased to provide free courier services directly to your clinic for all STI medication orders. Simply provide your address when placing your order and we will contact you when the medications are being couriered.These medications can be ordered to stock your clinic to treat patients based on your clinic’s needs. By pre-ordering and maintaining your clinic’s stock of these medications, you will be able to treat patients as they present to your clinic. 

Ottawa Public Health is pleased to provide free courier services directly to your clinic for all STI medication orders. Simply provide the name of your clinic and clinic address when placing your order. Once orders are placed, they will be filled at the Sexual Health Clinic and then delivered by courier. 

Who is eligible?

Ottawa Public Health will supply publicly-funded medications for:

  • Empiric treatment of suspected chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis and lymphogranuloma venereum (LGV) infections;
  • Treatment of laboratory-confirmed chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis and LGV infections;
  • Treatment of sexual partners of individuals diagnosed with one of these infections.

Medication may be ordered for restock as often as needed. Any expired STI medications may be disposed of per your clinic’s policy. 

Rationale

Medications for treatment of STIs are publicly-funded for Ontario residents to allow for easy access to first-line treatment. Timely treatment of patients and their sexual partners with first-line regimens will help to decrease the risk of complications and prevent further transmission and re-infections.

  • You will be required to report any positive STI cases by calling the OPH STI Case Reporting Line at 613-580-2424 ext. 12580.
